ABOUT THE CHILDRENS HOSPITAL AT WESTMEAD

The Children's Hospital at Westmead is the largest paediatric centre in NSW, providing the most advanced care and treatment options for children from NSW, Australia and across the Pacific Rim.

Established in 1880, The Children’s Hospital at Westmead is a stand-alone public Hospital and registered charity with 3,000 staff working in 150 departments. More than 60,000 sick children and their families are cared for each year in a family-focused, healing environment. This incorporates 28,000 inpatient admissions, 50,000 Emergency Department presentations and 600,000 visits to specialised outpatient clinics.

Children with conditions such as severe burns, major heart conditions, cancer, liver and kidney diseases, mental health issues and complex orthopaedic problems are referred to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead because we house leading specialty units within the Hospital grounds.

The Children's Hospital at Westmead is home to the NSW Paediatric Burns Unit, The Paediatric Liver Transplant Unit, The National Centre for Immunisation Research and Surveillance, the NSW Newborn Screening Service, The Kids Research Institute and the National Poisons Information Centre.

Funded by the NSW Government, the Hospital relies on community support and donations to maintain our excellent level of care. For more information visit www.chw.edu.au
